Over the last month...

Hello, this is Shikhar Bhattarai with The Udaya Group (TUG). Starting with this edition, I will be putting together a quick contextual summary of what has happened over the last month in regards to business and investments in the Himalayan nation of Nepal.

We have been seeing significant progress in the last 30 days or so with multiple investment proposals coming in from Chinese companies– the first one to the tune of US$ 1.5 Billion for West Seti Hydro project and the second one for US$ 300 Million for a cement processing plant. The other highlights include push by the Government of Nepal to unbundle Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) – something that I have personally been vocal about for a long time (please listen to my interview with the Emerging Frontier titled “The Himalayan Hope”- also included in this newsletter under Earlier Post) and opening up of new sectors for foreign investments.

We hope that this newsletter has been helpful to you in understanding the business and investment landscape of the quickly evolving frontier nation Nepal. Thank you for your continued interest and support. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you think if we can be of assistance.
